10 Core Beliefs
1. The Trinity
Creed: I believe the God of the Bible is the only true God — Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Key Verses: 2 Corinthians 13:14 — “May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” Genesis 1:1, Jeremiah 10:10, John 1:1-2, John 5:18, John 10:30 1 Timothy 1:17.
2. Jesus Christ the Son of God
Creed: I believe in the divine nature of Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, who was conceived by the Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Christ was crucified, died and buried as the sacrifice for the sins of all humanity. He rose again in full victory over sin and death.
Key Verses: Romans 5:6 — “When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.” Luke 1:27, Ephesians 5:2, Luke 24:1-7, Romans 5:6-11.
3. Authority of Scripture
Creed: I believe the Bible is the Word of God and has the right to command my belief and action.
Key Verses: 2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All Scripture inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right. It is God’s way of preparing us in every way, fully equipped for every good thing God wants us to do.” Psalm 19:7, John 17:17, Romans 15:4.
Creed: I believe a person comes into a right relationship with God by His grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
Key Verses: Ephesians 2:8-9 “God saved you by his special favor when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we done, so none of us can boast about it.” John 1:12, John 3:16-17, Romans 3:22-24, Romans 6:23, Colossians 2:14.
Creed: I believe all people are created and loved by God and need Jesus Christ as their Savior.
Key Verses: John 3:16-17 “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God did not send his Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it.”
6. Spiritual Growth
Creed: I believe that the pursuit of full devotion to Christ and His cause is normal for every believer. This journey to full devotion includes salvation, sanctification and continual surrender.
Key Verses: Romans 12:1-2 “I plead with you to give your bodies to God. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice–the kind he will accept… Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is.” Romans 6:12-14, Ephesians 4:11-16.
7. The Church
Creed: I believe the church is God’s primary way to accomplish his purposes on earth today.
Key Verses: Matthew 16:18 “I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.” Ephesians 4:11-16.
Creed: I believe there is a heaven and a hell and that Jesus Christ is returning to judge the earth and receive His believers into heaven and eternal life.
Key Verses: John 14:1-3 “Don’t be troubled. You trust in God, now trust in me. There are many rooms in my Father’s home, and I am going to prepare a place for you… When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.” Matthew 25:31-46, James 5:7-8, Revelation.
9. Spiritual Gifts
Creed: I believe that every follower of Christ is a ministry partner in building God’s kingdom and should fully utilize their God given talents, abilities and spiritual gifts. The gifts are to be exercised in love and emphasize the unity of the body of Christ; therefore only a language readily understood by the congregation is to be used in public worship.
Key Verses: 1 Corinthians 12:6-7 “There are different ways God works in our lives, but it is the same God who does the work through all of us. A spiritual gift is given to each of us as a means of helping the entire church.” Romans 12:3-8, 1 Corinthians 12, 1 Corinthians 14.
Creed: I believe that everything I am or own belongs to God.
Key Verse: 1 Timothy 6:17-19 “Tell those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which will soon be gone. But their trust should be in the living God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and should give generously to those in need; always being ready to share with others whatever God has given them. 1 Corinthians 8:1-15, 1 Corinthians 9.
